Day 1 Key word: Survived!

It is THE day 1: First day on season 8 Top Chef on bravo, first day without parents cooking since September, and first day with our own cooking! Yippee! Believe it or not, I was always looking for a good start point for some serious semi-amateur cooking. Never succeeded. Well, let's see how far this triple day 1 will go.

By saying serious semi-amateur cooking, I basically want to say byebye to frozen pizza, instant noodles, and maybe less Chipotle. After moving into this new-to-us house, the kitchen is not the excuse for our infamous  sluggish cooking  anymore.

To ensure this post get published before 12 PST, I will move into our dish tonight now. It is Rotini with Spicy Italian Sausage and Broccoli in Alfredo sauce. We didn't look up for recipe. It is mainly Jason made it based on his memory of the dish. Pretty simple steps: 1. take the sausage out of the case and break it down in heated skillet. 2. boil the broccoli in hot water. 3. mix the sausage and broccoli together with Alfredo sauce in low heat. 4. cook the Rotini according to the cooking instructions. 5. mix the sauce with Rotini and done! Simple, but delicious. I am not a fan of Alfredo sauce, but this one taste light enough for me to like it. Forgot to mention, we did use the light version of Alfredo sauce. Definitely not authentic. Besides this, we also tried the new bread machine second time after we received this as wedding gift.  Just heard the beeping. Can't wait to see the result!

In the end, I should mention the D-day too. We sent the parents back to China yesterday. We impatiently started to explore the culinary world at dinner time. Got the recipe on foodnetwork.com.(http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/robin-miller/honey-jalapeno-chicken-with-sesame-soba-noodles-recipe/index.html) It is more like a Asian fusion to me. Taste absolutely delicious! Didn't take the pictures though. Only got the idea to post in blog today. After all, today is the Day 1!
